Tuba - Trans
Umbilical Breast Augmentation
Trans Umbilical breast augmentation
also know as the tuba procedure was first described in the early 90's. In
this procedure an incision is made in the umbilical region. Dr. Kim places
his incision underneath the fold of skin that lies on top of the umbilicus,
thus making it a nearly invisible incision. Tunnels are created to the
breasts bilaterally and a pocket is created beneath the muscle. The implants
are then inserted through the tunnels. The implants are deflated when they
are placed, connected to a long tube. After placement of the implants the
breasts are then inflated and the tube is removed.
Although the Tuba procedure has
been around now for several years not many doctors are performing breast
augmentation using this method. Doctors not familiar with this procedure
will state that it is more difficult to attain symmetry using this method.
And this may be true in some doctors hands. However, Dr. Kim has performed
hundreds of these procedures and truly perfected the technique. To view
samples of his work please click the photos button above.
The benefits of the trans umbilical
breast augmentation ( tuba ) procedure are minimal scarring, slightly
quicker healing, and minimal pain. The other methods of breast augmentation,
periareolar and trans-axillary, are also excellent methods of performing
breast augmentation. Dr. Kim feels it comes down to where you want the scar.
At your
consultation Dr. Kim will discuss the various options you have regarding
your procedure, and will go over the advantages and disadvantages of each.
Breast augmentation in the right hands is a relatively straight forward
procedure. However, you should be well informed of the complications that
can occur, and also be informed of the steps that should be taken to allow
your breasts to heal properly.
